Automatic driving classes — key facts
Manual vs Automatic driving in Bhubaneswar — which should you learn?
Should I learn manual or automatic car driving in Bhubaneswar? In India, a manual driving licence allows you to drive both manual and automatic transmission cars. An automatic-only driving licence restricts you to automatic vehicles only and cannot be used for manual cars. Golden Hands recommends learning manual for full flexibility — but offers dedicated automatic classes for those who specifically need or prefer automatic-only training.
| Factor | Manual Driving | Automatic Driving |
|---|---|---|
| Licence coverage | ✓ Covers both manual + automatic | ✗ Automatic only |
| Learning complexity | Clutch + gear coordination needed | Simpler — no clutch or gear |
| Initial learning speed | Slightly longer to master | Faster initial comfort |
| Available cars in Bhubaneswar | All rental, shared and personal cars | Only automatic vehicles |
| Cost at Golden Hands | Same fees | Same fees — no surcharge |
| Best for | Most learners — full flexibility | Senior drivers, nervous learners, city-only commuters |
| RTO test track | ✓ Extended course includes practice | ✓ Extended course includes practice |
Golden Hands recommendation: If you are undecided, learn manual first — it covers all cars including automatics. If you specifically own or will drive only an automatic car, automatic-only classes are a good choice. Call 9040040265 to discuss your situation.
AMT, CVT and automatic — what types of automatic cars are trained at Golden Hands?
What types of automatic cars are used for driving classes in Bhubaneswar? Golden Hands covers three types of automatic transmission: AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) — common in Maruti Alto, WagonR, Swift, Dzire; CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) — found in Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Baleno; and traditional Torque-Converter automatics found in premium sedans and SUVs. The training car used depends on availability — confirm when calling.
🚗 AMT — Automated Manual Transmission
How it works: Same gears as manual but clutch actuation is automatic — no clutch pedal for driver. Can feel slightly jerky at low speeds.
Common in Bhubaneswar: Maruti Alto AMT, WagonR AMT, Swift AMT, Dzire AMT, Tata Tiago AMT.
Best for: Budget car buyers wanting automatic convenience without the CVT price premium.
🚗 CVT — Continuously Variable Transmission

Common in Bhubaneswar: Honda City CVT, Hyundai Verna CVT, Maruti Baleno CVT, Honda Jazz.
Best for: City commuters who want a smooth, refined driving experience.
🚗 Torque-Converter Automatic
How it works: Traditional fluid coupling with a fixed number of gear steps — very smooth and responsive, especially at highway speeds.
